The true story of the Aberfan Disaster is heart break. It is said to be the Queen's biggest regret that she waited so long to visit the site (8 days) but she has returned to it over the years.
The real story is an incredibly tragic one. October 21, 1966, black slurry flash flooded down the hill above Aberfan. It destroyed everything in its path including a school, killing 144 people 116 of which were kids who were at school. Click here for more
